I do not know about you, but I personally grew up listening to SwollenMembers especially being Canadian, they were all over the radio/tv.
Madchild has always been one of my favorites in the industry, but just recently he has started to find his voice and come into his own.
Kinda crazy watching this video, and it hitting me how time flies so fast! I remember like it was yesterday listening to Lady Venom, Fuel Injected, & Pressure on the radio back in grade 7..... wow!
Swollen hit a pinnacle in the early/mid 2000's, but due to substance abuse on Madchild's part, started to slow down....
Only in the last 2-3 years have they started to make a comeback into the music scene.
I have been very blessed with many opportunities to share the stage with these guys, and they are truly really awesome people.
(side note: Prevail is one of the most down to earth people I've had the privilege to meet)
I wanted to share this video, moreso due to what Shane says from 4 minutes on. If you are an up and coming artist - take his advice:
- If you're not very fucking good, Quit! (the industry is too saturated).
- Treat people how you would like to be treated.
- Do not become the "local legend."
- Treat every fan as they are family.
Stay tuned for what Swollen/Madchild has coming. I got my ear to the ground, and believe me they are coming out with some pretty awesome material in the near future!
I am very thankful that Shane got a second shot at his life, and at his career - it means fans of music like me have great material to absorb and reflect upon - and as artists we have ideas to drawn from.
Much love to Swollen. Mad/Prev/Rob!
Until Next Time.
