Slim Shady Finally Growing Up?
One of my all time favorite emcees released a new visual for a track I never thought would have actually happened to be honest.
Eminem came out today with "Headlights," an apology song/video to his mother whom he arguably garnered much of his success from by constantly bashing her throughout the years.
My personal artwork is heavily influenced by Shady, I grew up watching him grow up - if that makes any sense. I think we all did that, to be fair.
We saw him ripping mics apart on Rap Olympics, Infinite days, then the creation of Slim Shady, then to the mainstream sensation that is Eminem.... We saw him go through the loss of his bestfriend (RIP Big Proof), to subsequent substance abuse - then a fall off of his art - and then a very recent comeback to the throne.
One reason Marshall Matthers has reached such a pinnacle in the music industry, is how open and honest he is about bringing his true life to the table for all to see.
Now, I know there is a difference between entertainment and reality, lets be honest - some things do need to be embellished to make money, but on the flipside, when Eminem puts away the Slim Shady alter-ego, and speaks from the heart of Marshall, he is true to his word - a quality I feel is lacking in the industry today.
This isn't a write-up on Eminem's life, I am just stressing a point that he has put himself out there SO much, so open and honestly, that when he released this video - my jaw literally hit the floor. He has created such an engaging audience, I feel like I have been there through it all with him. (Don't worry Im not Stan)
So much emotion ran over me while watching this.
I remember listening to "Cleaning Out My Closet" and "Kill You" years back....
Shutup slut, you're causing too much chaos
Just bend over and take it like a slut, okay Ma?!
"Oh, now he's raping his own mother, abusing a whore
Snorting coke, and we gave him the RollingStone cover?"
Like I can recite that off the top like it was yesterday when it came out.
So when he apologized to his mother for all the hurt throughout the years, it was really incredible.
I cannot begin to imagine how strained that relationship was/is.
As I grow older, mature, I am beginning to see many things in different lights.
It was definitely an interesting move to say the least.
What are your thoughts on the subject - Do you agree or disagree with him doing this?
Oh, also look at the shameless plug that Dodge made at 2:26 - I wonder how much they paid him for that? His networth is over 100 million - why the eff would he be driving a Dodge?
PS: It was also a very great marketing ploy to release the video on Mothers Day.
Slow Clap from me.
The angry blonde seems to have started to mature in many facets, I am not going to lie, I do miss Shady on drugs tho....
